PERINATAL
Motherhood is an incredible journey, but it can sometimes feel overwhelming, bringing new challenges or even resurfacing old wounds.
After giving birth, it takes a woman 6 months to heal her wounds. 12 months to recover physically, 2 years to balance her hormones, and up to 5 years to rediscover her identity. Relationships often face difficulties during this period of time due to lack of understanding. Many women recall their own childhood as they transition into parenthood and wonder how they can make things different.
I am a Certified Perinatal Therapist. After living my own postpartum journey, I was eager to train in postpartum issues and am passionate about supporting moms and families through early parenthood. As a mental health provider, I believe in creating a supportive and empowering environment.
My goal is to work alongside you to find peace and hope for the future through the use of a perinatal therapy approach which encompasses elements of DBT, CBT, ACT, Family Systems, and Internal Family Systems.
Other topics I would like you to do this for would be:
ADHD
Did you know that most girls are first diagnosed in their 30 and 40s? That means that there are many women who have lived their whole lives thinking there is something wrong with them, and have not learned how to work with their brains. This can lead to depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. There are aspects of ADHD like rejection sensitivity and executive functioning difficulties that can make us feel like outsiders looking in.
After being diagnosed at age 32 after seeing signs in all of my children, I strove to learn as much as I could about ADHD from a therapeutic standpoint. I have years of experience teaching families how to work with their brains and learning how to let go of negative limiting beliefs.
I use both DBT and CBT modalities to help clients improve their self-understanding and acceptance. As the famous neurodivergent saying goes, “I am a normal zebra, not a weird horse”.
DEPRESSION
Depression can feel like a heavy, unshakeable weight that affects every part of life. It often leads to feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of energy, making even simple tasks seem overwhelming. The good news is that therapy can offer powerful tools for managing these feelings.
I have trained for years in CBT and DBT approaches and have seen life-changing results in my clients.
I use evidence- based approaches from CBT and DBT to help my client climb their way out the hole and stay out!
TRAUMA
Trauma therapy helps individuals process and heal from past traumatic experiences by creating a safe, supportive space to explore painful memories. By addressing the root causes of trauma, we can support the healing process, facilitate emotional regulation, and foster resilience, allowing you to move forward without being weighed down by the past.
Through techniques like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), we work together to reframe negative thoughts, release emotional distress, and regain a sense of control.
I specialize in trauma, specifically sexual and emotional trauma for kids, teens, and adults.
WOMEN’S ISSUES
Therapy can provide essential support for those grieving a miscarriage or abortion by offering a safe, non-judgmental space to process complex emotions like sadness, guilt, anger, or confusion. I can help individuals navigate their grief, challenge any negative self-blame, and address feelings of loss. Through compassionate, non-judgemental guidance, I find my clients healing, build coping skills, and ultimately make peace with their experience, fostering emotional well-being and recovery.
I have trained in providing therapy for various women’s issues in evidence-based approaches.
I use a combination of EMDR, IFS, DBT, and ACT to help women find relief.
CHILDREN & TEENS
I believe the earlier we teach children how to explore and process their thoughts and feelings, the better equipped they are in adulthood. We offer a supportive space to address challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, or family issues in a way that's tailored to their age and developmental stage. By providing guidance and fostering open communication, therapy empowers children and teens to navigate their struggles, build resilience, and grow into emotionally healthy adults.
Using techniques such as play therapy, theraplay, CBT, and creative expression, I work to help young people develop healthy coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and build self-esteem.
I have worked with children for years as a Preschool Teacher, ABA Therapist, Math Teacher, and Group Home Parent, before finally beginning my training in therapy and Play therapy. I am currently working towards my Play Therapy certification.
