Sia earned both her Bachelor of Social Work (with a Minor in Ethnic Studies) and her Master of Social Work with a focus on mental health from the University of Utah 2003. As a first-generation Pacific Islander, Sia brings a deep passion for supporting BIPOC youth, helping them find their voice, build confidence, and break through the stigma that still surrounds mental health in many communities.
She works with children, teens, adults, and couples, offering a space where clients of all backgrounds can feel seen, heard, and supported. Sia takes a warm, client-centered approach, drawing from evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care.
Here’s a closer look at the areas Sia specializes in and how she supports clients in each:
Young people are dealing with a lot. Social pressure, school stress, family changes, identity questions, and often not having a safe space to talk about any of it.
She meets kids and teens where they are, building trust and offering tools to help them express themselves, manage emotions, and build healthy connections.
Depression doesn’t always look the same. It might feel like exhaustion, disconnection, or just going through the motions. Sia helps clients understand what’s going on beneath the surface and offers a compassionate space to work through it.
Sia uses approaches like CBT and ACT to help clients identify patterns, reconnect with themselves, and start to feel more like themselves again, one step at a time.
Whether it’s racing thoughts, overthinking, perfectionism, or a constant feeling of being “on,” anxiety can take a real toll. Sia helps clients understand how anxiety shows up in the brain and body and works with them to develop practical skills to manage it.
Her approach includes tools from CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, tailored to each person’s unique needs and lifestyle.
Big life changes like starting college, moving, changing jobs, or ending a relationship can feel overwhelming. As someone who’s navigated these transitions herself, especially as a first-generation college student, Sia understands how much courage it takes.
She works with clients to process change, explore who they’re becoming, and move forward with more clarity and self-trust.
Our early experiences shape how we show up in relationships. If you find yourself pulling away, clinging too tightly, avoiding conflict, or struggling to feel safe with others, Sia can help.
She supports clients in understanding their attachment patterns, improving communication, and building healthier, more fulfilling connections with partners, friends, family, and themselves.
ADHD is about more than just attention. It can impact motivation, organization, time management, and self-esteem. Many clients with ADHD feel like they’re constantly behind or not meeting expectations.
Sia takes a strengths-based, nonjudgmental approach to help clients better understand how their brain works and develop strategies that actually work for them, not just what “should” work.
Trauma can leave lasting effects, whether it’s from a single event or years of accumulated stress. It can show up in ways you don’t expect like feeling numb, easily triggered, or disconnected from your body.
Sia provides a gentle, supportive space to begin healing at your own pace. She’s trained in trauma-informed practices and focuses on helping clients feel safe, grounded, and more in control of their story.
For many clients, especially those who are first-generation or part of multiple cultures, identity can feel complicated. You might be balancing family expectations with your own goals or feeling like you don’t fully belong in any one space.
Sia draws from both her personal experience and her academic background in Ethnic Studies to help clients explore these in-between spaces and build an identity that feels true, whole, and empowered.
Sia is especially passionate about working with BIPOC youth and young adults. She understands how hard it can be to grow up navigating racism, representation, and systemic barriers while trying to find your place in the world.
Whether you’re working through identity, generational expectations, or just trying to feel less alone, Sia is here to support you in feeling empowered, confident, and connected.
At the heart of Sia’s work is connection. She believes therapy should feel like a collaborative space where you can show up fully as yourself without judgment or pressure. Her role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance, tools, and support as you navigate your own path toward healing and growth.
In her spare time, Sia enjoys traveling, watching movies, and spending lots of time with loved ones.
Sia meets with clients ages 5 and up.
