Tianna specializes in...
Child Therapy
Children can experience a variety of challenges and difficulties with their mental health, but they often don’t have the words to describe what they are experiencing. This can be so frustrating for parents and caregivers! It can be scary to know that something is bothering your little one, but not know what to do to help them. Luckily, children are resilient, and can get through challenging emotions, traumatic experiences, and other difficulties with
a little help. It can also be very frustrating when it seems that your child is acting out. You are not alone in this, and there is hope.
Because the brain of a child works differently from the brain of an adult, we do therapy a little differently with children. Children process emotions and difficult experiences and explore the world through their play. I am trained and supervised in play therapy. Treatment for your child may include individual sessions with your child in play therapy, supplemented by regular consultations with parents.
Growing up can be hard, and teenagers often face many challenges, but aren’t sure how to face them. It can be so empowering and validating for teenagers to have a time and space that is just for them. I have experience working with pre-teens and teenagers in a variety of settings, both in court-mandated therapy and private therapy for mental health. I absolutely love working with adolescents; it is one of my favorite parts of therapy. Treatment
includes a combination of creative play and traditional talk therapy in modalities such as CBT, DBT, and ACT.
Family Therapy
Issues within a family can be extremely distressing for every member of the family, and can send our nervous systems into chaos! We need close relationships, and if those relationships feel threatened, our ability to feel safe and calm is significantly impacted.
I love working with families, and primarily use Emotion-Focused Family Therapy. Family therapy can help improve communication, increase emotional safety, and set your family on a path of success with skills that you can implement on your own.
Depression
Have you noticed feelings of deep sadness, hopelessness, worthlessness, or urges to hurt yourself in some way? Or have you been numb for a very long time, and can’t seem to feel anything? No matter how you experience depression, please reach out! You deserve care, compassion, and support.
I have worked with many individuals experiencing depression. Some early on in their journeys, and some who have been struggling for many years. No matter where you are on your journey, it is never too late to seek help. I use CBT, DBT, and ACT when treating depression. This might look like exploring coping strategies, healing deep wounds, improving self-esteem, and working toward the acceptance of life’s challenges, and commitment to living the life you want to live. If you feel you could be a danger to yourself, please call 988.
Anxiety
Do you often experience intense worry or feelings of panic? Maybe your heart is beating out of your chest, you break out in a cold sweat, and your brain is foggy or frozen. You don’t know what to do, but you need it to stop. These experiences can be so frightening. Maybe you have great difficulty controlling your worrying and feel on edge, or a sense of dread. No matter what your symptoms of anxiety might be, we can help.
Anxiety is one of the most prevalent mental health problems. This means that there are many evidence-based techniques that can help, and it also means that you are not alone in your struggles and pain. I have worked with many clients experiencing anxiety, and understand personally how overwhelming it can be. I primarily use CBT, DBT, and ACT to treat anxiety. Treatment may include mindfulness and grounding techniques, challenging troubling thought patterns, and exposure therapy. Together, we can help your anxiety step
back, so that you can move forward.
