Erica is a dedicated graduate-level intern currently pursuing her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Utah. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Marriage and Family Studies from Brigham Young University-Idaho. Erica blends her academic knowledge and personal insight, and lived experience, offering compassionate, client-centered care to individuals of all ages.

She has experience in helping individuals navigate a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and the effects of narcissistic abuse. Erica is committed to guiding clients toward healing and personal growth. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which she

adapts to meet each client’s unique needs and goals.

Through her own healing journey, Erica has developed a deep appreciation for self-care, emotional resilience, the power of vulnerability, and maintaining a growth mindset in the face of adversity. She is passionate about reducing the stigma around mental health and empowering others to take charge of their well-being. Her clients often describe her as warm, understanding, and easy to talk to—someone who provides a safe, nonjudgmental space for reflection, healing, and personal growth.

Erica works with a wide range of clients, including children, teens, and adults, creating a safe and empathetic space for healing, emotional regulation, and building resilience. Whether navigating the complexities of trauma, relationship struggles, or mental health challenges, Erica works collaboratively with clients to empower them on their journey toward mental and emotional strength.

Erica specializes in…

Narcissistic Abuse

Do you find yourself constantly second-guessing your reality or feeling like you’re the problem in your relationship? Are you convinced that the problems in your relationship are because you can’t seem to do anything right? Is your partner often critical of the things you do and/or don’t do? Are you always giving in to your partner's demands to keep from having another argument?

You are not alone.

Narcissistic abuse often begins subtly and escalates over time. It may include emotional manipulation, gaslighting, chronic criticism, and control that can leave you doubting your reality and your self-worth. It is hard to detect because the person inflicting the abuse can seem so logical in their approach that it’s hard to see it for what it is, and you begin to believe that you are what is wrong with your relationship.

Gaslighting is a popular tactic used in narcissistic abuse. Phrases like “I never said that.”, “You’re making things up.”, “You misunderstood.” “I’m sorry if you’re mad.”… are all meant to convey that the issue lies with you, and that you are the one who needs to change for your relationship to improve. Many survivors of narcissistic abuse feel isolated and unsure of how to trust their own perceptions.

As a therapist with first-hand knowledge of narcissistic abuse, I understand what it means to feel unseen, unsafe, and emotionally invalidated by those who were meant to offer love and support. This journey often involves deep betrayal, confusion, and a long path toward healing. I am passionate about creating a therapeutic space where clients feel truly heard, valued, and empowered to reclaim their sense of self.

I am passionate about helping clients untangle these complex dynamics and provide a supportive environment to process trauma, set boundaries, and rebuild confidence, helping you rediscover your voice and inner strength.

Suicidal Ideation

Suicidal ideation or Suicidal thoughts can range from passive wishes to active planning, and though they vary in intensity, they always signify deep emotional distress. These thoughts are more common than many realize and can affect people of all ages and backgrounds. These thoughts can impact your mental health, lead to suicidal behaviors, and even acts of self-harm.

I have worked with children, teens, and adults who have experienced a wide range of life challenges, emotional distress, and trauma that have contributed to suicidal thoughts.

You don’t have to face these feelings alone. Together, we can explore the underlying causes, build healthier coping mechanisms, and help you reconnect with hope and purpose.

My approach to treatment is grounded, thoughtful, and personalized to each individual. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients explore the underlying thoughts, feelings, and experiences that contribute to suicidal ideation. Together, we work to understand the emotional pain beneath the surface and develop healthier ways to cope, think, and move forward.

Self-Harm

Self-harm is the act of inflicting pain on oneself. It comes in many different forms, from picking and scratching to burning and cutting, even hitting hard objects- causing an impact injury. Self-harm is often used as a way to manage overwhelming feelings or gain a sense of control and is frequently linked to emotional distress, trauma, or inner turmoil. It can also be used as a form of self-punishment.

Self-harm is typically used as a temporary form of coping. If used long-term, it can lead to more severe health problems, both physical and mental. Self-harm is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of distress.

Through my experience as a volunteer Crisis Counselor and my close relationships with loved ones who have struggled with self-harm, I’ve gained a deeper, firsthand understanding of its emotional impact and the complexities behind it.

I provide a compassionate and safe space where clients can explore the reasons behind self-harm, identify emotional triggers, and begin to build alternative coping strategies rooted in self-compassion and emotional regulation.

Depression

Depression can impact every area of life—your relationships, your work, your physical health, and your sense of self. While feelings of sadness and grief are a natural part of life, depression goes deeper. If you’ve been feeling persistently hopeless, emotionally numb, or disconnected for more than a few weeks, you may be experiencing clinical depression.

Depression affects everyone differently. It is possible to have these symptoms periodically and not have depression. Whatever you are going through, there is no shame in reaching out for help.

A personal understanding of depression allows me to recognize how overwhelming and isolating it can be—feeling as though you're in a dark place—and how powerful it is to discover hope and healing, even when it seems out of reach.

You don’t have to “just push through it.” With the right support, depression is treatable. I would be honored to help you navigate this journey and take meaningful steps toward healing and rediscovery.

Anxiety

Anxiety can feel overwhelming, relentless, and exhausting. While occasional anxiety is a normal part of life, chronic or intense anxiety can interfere with your ability to function and enjoy daily life. Whether it manifests as racing thoughts, panic attacks, social fears, or physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat or insomnia, anxiety can feel isolating and difficult to manage.

Disruptions to daily life, difficulty focusing, and challenges to overall well-being are aspects of anxiety I’ve personally encountered. While each experience is unique, symptoms can be managed effectively with the right strategies, supporting a grounded and balanced approach to daily functioning.

Through our work together, we will explore the roots of your anxiety, understand your triggers, and develop practical tools to help you feel more grounded, in control, and capable of facing life’s challenges.
